The world could use a few more true samurai
Calm men and women who aren’t afraid to die
Who understand dying is not the end of living
And to die every day is the way of the giving
Men and women who stay calm in the face of tribulation
Who stay calm when others are overwhelmed with frustration
Who have already thought about the worse than could happen
And know they are ready because they know they’re not lacking
Who are never so foolish as to ignore likely danger
Who always are careful when greeting a stranger
Who are always prepared for being betrayed
Whose wisdom is acquired from mistakes they have made
Whose calmness lets them know the minds of others
Opponents and friends and challengers and brothers
Whose values don’t deviate, who are sensitive to need
Whose actions are never motivated by greed
Modern-day samurai the world sorely needs
New leaders who show the way with their deeds
Who know their minds and who know themselves
Who lead by example not the wish to compel
A true samurai doesn’t live or die by the sword
A true samurai’s weapons are dignity and the honor of one’s word
Ready for a future that is always uncertain
Willing to pick up leadership’s burden
The world could use a few more true samurai
